Dear friends of Mumia,
My brother has not been given the Hepatitis-C treatment he so urgently needs. The disease is slowly destroying his health, particularly his organs. And prison doctors have done everything they can to stop Mumia from getting better.
A Pennsylvania judge will soon return a decision to a preliminary injunction that seeks immediate medical attention for my brother. If the judge rules in Mumia’s favor, prison doctors will be required to administer the cure to him — one pill a day for every 12 weeks.
But the reality is: even if the judge returns a favorable verdict, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections will still be in charge of giving him the treatment daily. The Corrections Department unethical stubbornness is disheartening — but not discouraging.
