In 2011 Urban Youth Specialist, Criminologist and Lecturer Craig Pinkney developed a National Anti-Knife Crime Campaign titled ‘Don’t Get Gassed’ and documented the experiences of young people affected by the issue. Four years later (2016) he is back to investigate whether the issue of youth violence is getting better or worse.
This episode begins with an insight into Craig Pinkney’s world, specifically on a current project he is facilitating in conjunction with Soho Youth Project called the ‘Adrenaline Project’. This project was designed to target young people in the Hockley/Winson Green area following the recent spate of shootings in the city.
Next weeks episode will feature young people that live Hockley/Winson Green/Handsworth, discussing the pressures of living in an area they feel is unsafe.
