Activists in the US state of Connecticut call for stricter gun control laws on the third anniversary of the deadly shooting in Sandy Hook elementary school.
Demonstrators gathered outside the National Rifle Association and chanted slogans. They called for more background checks for firearm purchasers and a ban on gun sales to people on federal watch lists. Pro-gun groups, such as the NRA, argue that restrictions on firearm purchases would not improve public safety. Three years ago on December 14, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in the city of Newtown. The incident is regarded as one of the deadliest mass shootings in the US history.
