An updated report has found that more than 7,000 people have been detained, “disappeared,” or denied legal counsel and basic constitutional rights by the Chicago Police Department at an off-the-books interrogation facility known as Homan Square. Alexey Yaroshevsky looks at why people were taken to Homan Square and who prevented attorneys from working with detainees.
