A silent march is due to take place in Ferguson on Sunday, August 9, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the killing of 18-year-old black teenager Michael Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson.

Actions have been called across the United States to demand justice for Brown, whose killing ignited racial tensions and sparked month-long protests, with heavily-militarised police squads being deployed on the ground. Wilson was acquitted for the killing by a grand jury on November 25.
